This is one of the two books that have affected me like Salingers Catcher In The Rye did Mark David Chapman, John Hinckley and Jerry the Mel Gibson character in Conspiracy Theory. I keep buying copies when ever I see one, no matter how many I already have. Another thing you should know is that Don't Stop the Carnival is one of Jimmy Buffet's favoriteshe liked it so much he tried turning it into a musical. No doubt he liked it for its settingon a fictional island in the Caribbeanand its fun blendI just finished reading Don't Stop the Carnival while on vacation in Akumal Mexico (sea turtle sanctuary). Not a better place to read this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Herman Wouk. Being a Jimmy Buffett fan and knowing that he made this book into a musical, I've always intended to read it and finally did at the perfect location. I adore this book. I read it when I was probably 13 and found an old hard back copy in one of my parents stacks of books. Neither of them knew where it came from or had read it. I thought that was so odd but adored reading it and have gone back to it many times since. I own very few books though I am a voracious reader. I read this book recently when I was staying on Useppa Island. This book was recommended to me several times while I was living in St. Thomas but I never got around to it. I found the book to be pretty amusing. This story takes place in the 1950's on a made up island in the West Indies called Amerigo (St. Thomas).
