Having read this book in the mid 90's when it came out, nearly 20 years later the story was on my mind, but I couldn't identify the book or author. I asked for help identifying the book on goodread's and luckily someone came through! Once the book was identified I was then a bit worried that I would not enjoy as much, but thank goodness I was not disappointed. Great plot, such good attention to detail and just a fantastically enjoyable read!If I may, a book rant ..."The worst book I have ever read" is a phrase one throws around way too lightly. I cant recall how Joe Donnellys Havock Junction came to be on my bookshelf, although I do vaguely recall having read three of his books at some point in the past. That said, I dont remember the titles of the other two, nor how come there is only one left on my shelf now. This book frustrated the hell out of me. I loved it - but on the other hand it's repetitiveness drove me nuts. I often found myself double checking that I wasn't accidently re-reading previously read pages! But yet I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
