Commentary To Books Undone

Jem Halliday is in love with her best friend. It doesn't matter that Kai is gay, or that he'll never look at her the way she looks at him. Jem is okay with that. But when Kai is outed online by one of their classmates, he does the unthinkable and commits suicide.

Jem is left to pick up the pieces of her broken life. Before he died, Kai left her twelve letters—one for each month of the year—and those letters are all Jem has left. That, and revenge.

Although Kai's letters beg her not to investigate what happened, Jem can't let it go. She needs to know who did this, and she'll stop at nothing to find the person responsible for Kai's death. One way or another, someone is going down. Someone is going to pay.

I cannot believe I'm giving a one star to a Cat Clarke book. I literally can't. I even considered giving it two stars just because this is Cat Clarke. But no. This is a one star book for me. I just expected so much more. The premise was amazing and I really looked forward to this book. I bought it when it came out and started reading it as soon as it got delivered to my doorstep, but then I opened page one and the disappointment rolled in. The book is boring, to say the least. I found myself at

Put simply I found this book gut wrenching, it was emotional, shocking and heart-breaking.Undone tackles a whole host of series subjects such as suicide and bullying and does so with great respect. Cat Clarke is an amazing storyteller and a brilliant writer. I truly commend her for

I have to be honest - I had some major problems with Undone. This novel tells the story of Jemima, Jem for short. Her best friend, Kai, has just committed suicide as a result of anti-gay bullying, and she is left behind. She is at the end of her rope when Kai's sister delivers a package to her. Inside are notes, one for each month of the year, left for her by Kai. As she reads them, she decides to take her revenge on the group of popular kids she believes drove him to his suicide. Her method? To

4.5 Cat Clarke does it again. This was a very DIFFERENT book. Not in a bad way in a good way. It had many twist. At one point, or should I say many points of the book I couldn't stop crying. It was very sad. I thought I knew were the Author was taking us but at the end I had know Idea what happened, would happen. Thanks Lilo for recommending me this book.:)

This is a bit of an odd book, and if I had been asked at different intervals how I would rate it, it would have fluctuated wildly. The book opens strongly, with the protagonist reeling from the suicide of her closest - and only - friend. The author elicits empathy for the characters, along with horror at the events leading to Kai's suicide. From there, the book slowly starts slipping away. There are a few reasons for that. The protagonist is truly unlikeable. Whilst having sympathy and empathy
